We left Horseheads NY in light rain with the wipers running intermittently. No major traffic issues and after topping off the diesel tank in New Milford PA, we arrived at the Timothy Lake South Thousand Trails Campground and were setup by 2:30pm. It’s a very nice TT park and we got a quiet pull-through site.
We noticed the water here was a little hard so I setup the new water softener I had picked up in NH in September. After setting it up I took a test and it appears to be helping.
Our first full day here, we headed to Allentown and visited “America on Wheels” auto museum. Maybe this post should have been titled “HomeOnWheels visits America On Wheels”? It’s a small museum but they had some impressive cars and trucks there.
After we left the museum we went to Easton and they had an open street market with 3-4 streets blocked off, live music, food etc. We walked around and bought a couple things but mostly people watched and checked out some crafts for sale.
Jane did some sewing one day so I headed over to the Pocono Raceway as their website said you could get a free tour. The woman who runs the store (Caroline) gave me a great tour including the infield, pit row, the winner’s circle and a memorial to several famous drivers there. Very cool to see this famous track I’ve seen on TV many times close up and in person!
We subscribe to an online web service called RVillage, which is sort of a Facebook of sorts for the RV community. We got a note through their msg system Tuesday that some friends we met in Bar Harbor were headed to our campground. They setup beside us later in the day and we went out to dinner later that night with them to a local pizza place. It is funny how in a short time we’ve run into other couples multiple times now!
Wednesday we headed back to Resica Falls as it was a beautiful day and I wanted to get some shots with the drone that we couldn’t get from land. Then we took a ride north on the NJ side of the Deleware Gap. The road we took there was kind of a dud, but we did end up at Dingman’s Falls in the afternoon and walked in there and got some nice pictures!
Friday, Oct 7th, Jane worked in the coach and I took the Jeep in town to a local tire dealer for some new sneakers and an alignment. When I got back I washed the Jeep and the coach (which is like washing about 4 more Jeeps!).
